Birchbox Canada Inaugural Box Review – December 2014

Welcome to my Inaugural Blog Post! Couldn’t be more fitting to start off my blog with my review of the Inaugural Box for Birchbox Canada.

Box: BirchBox Canada
Cost: $10/month plus $4.95 shipping or $100/year plus shipping which works out to $159.40/year
What you get: 4-5 Beauty sample size items

My Birchbox shipped out on Dec 10th 2014 and it was at my door on Dec 15th.

Birchbox Canada Review
I received 5 items in my first box. On the printed card they had mentioned that the box came with a $10 Gift Card for the GAP but I didn’t see anything about it in the box. I contacted Birchbox customer service and found out that it was a misprint taken from Birchbox US card. Unfortunately they couldn’t offer the same perk for GAP Canada but they did however offer to add 100 Birchbox Points to my account which is the equivalent of $10 to apologize for their error. I come from a customer service background and I truly appreciate companies that value their customers and provide customer service to show that. It really makes a huge difference to me as a customer. Great Customer Service Birchbox!

1. Cynthia Rowley Eye Pencil

I’m not a huge eye liner person. Mommy life keeps me from wearing much makeup on a daily basis. I’m glad to have this pencil for special occassions though it’s a good waterproof long lasting liner. The only place to get this in Canada is on the Birchbox site which I find adds some exclusivity to the box and I enjoy that.

2. Stainiac Lip and Cheek Stain

This was my least favorite item in the box. The tint faded pretty quickly on my lips and cheeks and I wasn’t too fond of the colour. I doubt I’ll be purchasing this one.

3. Amika Dry Shampoo

Amika Dry Shampoo

I was really excited to try this as I had read good things about it online and it doesn’t have aluminum or talc in the formula. I’ve used it three times and have had mixed results. Maybe I didn’t use enough the first time because I didn’t really feel like it absorbed enough oil. The second and third times were a bit better but I’m still not sure. It does smell very nice though.

I love how this body cream smells! It reminds me a little of Victoria Secret’s Amber Romance. Anyone else feel that or is my sense of smell totally off? The texture of the cream is nice and as a hand cream it’s lovely.

5. Vasanti BrightenUp! Exfoliating Cleanser

Vasanti Brighten Up!

Vasanti Brighten Up!

Vasanti is a Canadian company and I love their makeup. I’ve never tried this scrub but I like that it’s natural and contains no sulphates. I was so very excited to receive this and it did not disappoint the cleanser is fantastic. I noticed that my skin was brighter and softer immediately after using this. When my husband returned from work he commented on how my skin looked bright and new and he’s not usually one to say anything unless something is noticeably different. So that confirms for me this really works ; )

I’m very pleased with this box and can’t wait to see what January brings.
